Meet Our Team

South Florida Orthodontist Dr Steven Short Orthodontics

Steven T. Short, DDS, MS Dr. Short attended the Indiana School of Dentistry. He graduated with honors receiving degrees in dental surgery and orthodontics. But Dr. Short's education did not stop there. He is a firm believer in advanced training for himself and his staff and they regularly attend continuing education programs. Dr. Short is a long time resident of this area having moved to Ft. Lauderdale as a young child. He is a supporter of numerous local charities and organizations. A family man, Dr Short has been happily married to his wife, Irene, for over 25 years and they have two wonderful children. Dr. Short has provided high quality orthodontic treatment to this community for over 30 years. He has made beautiful smiles his life's work. In addition, he is a member of the "Schulman Study Group", which is limited to 125 top orthodontic practitioners in the country.		Robyn Foster Robyn was born and raised in South Florida and brought her background in business management to Short Orthodontics over 5 years ago. Her warm and welcoming personality makes all of our patients feel at home during their initial consultation and throughout their entire treatment. Robyn's excitement for the practice shines through in planning events such as Patient Appreciation Parties, School Field Trips, and Girl/Boy Scout tours. When Robyn is not at Short Orthodontics she is spending time with her daughter Madison. She enjoys reading, cake decorating, and going to the beach. Robyn's positive attitude and dedication makes her a perfect fit at Steven Short Orthodontics!
Joy Foster Joy started her career with Dr. Short in 1999 making her one of the senior members of our team. She can work any position in the office, whether its answering phones, meeting with new patients, or assisting Dr. Short. Besides Treatment Coordinating and being a Certified Orthodontic Technician, Joy is also our Invisalign Specialist. She works side by side with Dr. Short on each and every Invisalign case, and even attends continuing education courses with him to make sure that every Invisalign case is a success. Joy's outgoing personality and enthusiasm for chattiness will make you feel like part of our family!! When she isn't creating beautiful smiles she has her hands full with her two beautiful daughters! Being a native Floridian, Joy loves spending weekends by the pool with her husband and family!		Patricia Lopez Patricia joined The Short Orthodontics team in May 2004. Patricia wears many hats in our office as our Financial/Insurance Coordinator, Human Resource Manager as well as IT specialist. She comes to us from St. Thomas University in Miami where she acquired as Bachelor in Business Administration and a Masters in Science Management. Patricia has a warm, understanding personality and will go out of her way to try to find an amicable solution to any financial troubles that may arise. Patricia has been involved with sports her whole life, as she played volleyball and soccer on the collegiate level. She spends her time watching her home teams, Miami Dolphins and The Miami Hurricanes with her husband and friends and participating in numerous races to raise money for non-profit organizations.
Katie Birge Katie has been a member of the Short Orthodontics team since 2003. She started out doing sterilization and was the Records Technician and now a Certified Orthodontic Technician. Her experience for the past 7 years has make her very knowledgeable and confident. Katie is compassionate and gentle with her patients and is excellent at making them comfortable. She was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL and enjoys shopping, relaxing by the pool and spending time with her family and cat. Katie take pride assisting Dr. Short in providing patients with beautiful smiles that last a lifetime and being a positive part of their day!		Susan White Susan joined Short Orthodontics in March of 1998. She is a Certified Orthodontic Assistant with over 44 years of experience. Susan came by way of Boston Massachusetts. She is a very warm and caring person and puts the patients' needs first. She is also our office decorator for holidays and special events. Anytime you are in the office please feel free to complement the decor that always brightens her day. We consider her the office mom always making sure that the staff has plenty of treats to keep us going on those long busy days!
Candace Rybak Candace was raised in South Florida and attended Deerfield Beach High School. She has shown her passion for helping others as she has worked as a Medical Assistant for pediatrics prior to joining our team. Candace joined Short Orthodontics in February of 2006 and is one of our Certified Orthodontic Technicians. Candace enjoys reading, rollerblading, going to the beach, and is a HUGE Miami Hurricanes fan. Candace works closely with Dr. Short to ensure that each patient's experience is personal and that our patients receive the best care and support in treatment as possible!		Marlen McDonald Marlen has been a team member with Short Orthodontics for five years. She is our Scheduling Coordinator and Treatment Coordinator in both our Fort Lauderdale and Weston office. She was born and raised in South Florida and comes form Colombian parents and she is fluent in Spanish. Marlen has a medical background in Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology for over 13 years and is currently pursing her Bachelors degree in Nursing. When she isn't studying her son keeps her busy with competitive soccer, MMA, and school band. Marlen mostly enjoys the time they share participating in 5K's with her son. Marlen enjoys helping Dr. Short welcome new patients to our practice and making them feel at home!
Lea Amminao Lea's career in orthodontics began 4 years ago, when she became Dr. Short's orthodontic patient. Recognizing her outgoing personality, Dr. Short persuaded Lea to change her career path by offering the training to be a team member. She is now a Certified Orthodontic Assistant as well as our Scheduling Coordinator and a valuable member to our team. Lea was born and raised in South Florida, making her a true Floridian. Her time apart from Short Orthodontics is spent continuing her education towards her BS degree at Liberty University. She also enjoys traveling, snow boarding, and spending time with her friends and family. Lea is gratified to know that she contributes to creating healthy and beautiful smiles that will last a lifetime to our family of patients.
